Goodbye summer, hello delicious homebrew! #beer #diy #nofilter (Taken with Instagram)
It teaches us how to keep our beer cold, DIY style. Thank you, science (and Mr. Needle). Via @popsci
Congratulations, You’ve Been Kissed By a Dragon!
Thanks everyone who came by to taste my beer last night. I learned how fun it is to have a beer on tap that you made, and to share it with great people. Still learning on how to not be a nervous wreck before hand…
Reading about Irish Moss, a red atlantic seaweed used for clarity in beer. I forgot to buy a whirlfloc tablet, so I’m taking this route instead.
Extracurricular Libation: Dragon Kiss
In honor of Chinese New Year, and paying homage to a Jet Li movie - this chocolate-lavendar-pouter is now fermenting. Should it taste like Dragonballz in two weeks, then it will be quietly poured down the drain (shhhh). If not, you will have an opportunity to drink it at 61 Local’s homebrew event hosted by Yelp.
In other big news: my brew pot takes up the entire stove. NBD.
Visiting Kelly, bartender and home brewer extraordinaire, as she whips up a batch of chocolate-lavender-porter-stout for our upcoming event. Stay tuned for more details on when you can taste with us!
Hello,
My name is Eric Steen, I’m a homebrewer, beer writer, and beer-event organizer based in Colorado. I’m asked by galleries, musuems, and festivals around the country to put together unique beer programs that feature beer as a type of art. I’ve been invited by the internationally renowned Performa Festival to do something in NYC in November. I’ll be creating a type of pop-up pub that serves homebrewed beer to the public, basically a speakeasy bar featuring local homebrewers. If you or any homebrewing are interested in being a part of these, please contact me at ericmsteen@gmail.com. I am collecting a list of interested homebrewers and will send more information shortly.
A little more about me: I have worked with numbers of breweries and homebrewers in Oregon, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, and Scotland. Some of the project I’ve put together include: the annual Art & Beer, Glasgow Pub Project, Beers Made By Walking, Boulevard Beer Portraits, and others. I’ve worked with organization including the Portland Art Museum, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art, and breweries including Boulevard, Laurelwood, Hopworks, Williams Bros, Upright and currently working with Ska, Odell, Oakshire, and many others.
If you or anyone has any questions I’d be happy to tell you more via email about what I do and what I’m planning for NYC.
"This week: BUTTERBEER!
We are super sad to say goodbye to our good friends Harry, Hermione, and Ron, but sneaking a flask or two of this sweet, frothy drink into the Deathly Hallows premiere will dull the pain. Especially since we added a shot of bourbon to each glass.
Click the player above to watch the full episode for this easy, unhealthy, celebratory drink. Accio mug!
And, hey, why not reblog the crap out of this video and make us feel super good about ourselves? You know you want to. You know we love you.
